Andrew Zimmern's Best Places to Eat in Miami
Andrew Zimmern is a chef, food writer, teacher, and host of Travel Channel's hit show Bizarre Foods. He's tried it all from the best restaurants in the world, to strange foods like fermented shark and rectum sausage All things considered, it is safe to say he knows what he's talking about when it comes to food. He understands that Miami is more than just the beaches and hot babes, especially when it comes to eating. Find out what are Andrew Zimmern's favorite restaurants in Miami.

Red, the Steakhouse

Featured on Esquire, Forbes, and of course Bizarre Foods, Red, the Steakhouse is a contemporary restaurant with extensive wine list, chic ambiance and modern decor. Red has a raw bar with delectable dishes such as Osetra or Beluga caviar and Frutti Dimare Chef's shellfish selections with maine lobster and king crab. Red's meats are wet aged for no less than 45 days to ensure tastiness and tenderness, then seared at extremely high temperatures to seal in maximum flavor. Choose from a variety of steaks such as the miyazaki Japanese Kobe, dry aged c.a.b. prime tomahawk, Kansas city strip, porterhouse, and classics like filet mignon, ribeye, and NY strip. Beside steak, Zimmern also tried the monstrous red Alaskan king crab. Red, the Steakhouse 119 Washington Avenue Miami Beach, FL 33139

Azul Restaurant

Overlooking the Biscayne Bay, Azul is an American restaurant, with Asian-inspired dishes. Zimmern dined at Azul when he was invited to a Cobaya, which is an underground dinner for adventurous eaters. The extensive bar menu includes a variety of champagnes, white wine, red wine, and samaroli rums. Try one of the signature cocktails like the LUX cognac, luxardo maraschino liqueur, orange bitters and brandied cherry. Try the Yellowfin tuna with long pepper, marinated cucumber, sushi rice, and sudachi ponzu. Another favorite is the grilled short ribs with hibiscus, goat feta, parsnip, cipollini onion, and a hint of beer for flavor. Azul Restaurant 500 Brickell Key Drive Miami, FL 33131

El Palacio de los Jugos

Nothing says Cuban more than El Palacio de los Jugos (The Palace of Juices). The casual counter-serve joint with covered outdoor seating serves classic Latin dishes, sandwiches, and of course, juices. Zimmern's favorite is the chicharon. He described the dish saying, €œlong strips, not too overcooked, warm, hot, fatty goodness, fantastic roast pork flavour, and salty crispy skin€. Fritanga Montelimar

This Nicaraguan restaurant is one of Zimmern's favorite places to eat. He said in an interview that he has gone back every 6 months since his first visit. The famous foodie enjoyed the classic laid back Hispanic dining experience complete with abuelas and mama cooking in the kitchen. His favorites were the tamales, Indio Viejo, and the sweet and sour tongue. Fritanga Montelimar 15722 Southwest 72nd Street Miami, FL 33193

Joe's Stone Crab

Open only October through May during stone crab season, Joe's is a limited time only fine dining experience. During his visit, Zimmern had the opportunity to go out on the water to haul in a fresh catch with one of the restaurant's suppliers, Keys Fisheries. His favorite fish is unsurprisingly the king crab claws which comes steamed, grilled, or chilled. Many people also come here for the amazing Joe's key lime pie. It is the perfect blend of sweetness, tartness, and creaminess. Joe's Stone Crab 11 Washington Ave. Miami Beach, FL 33139 @chefaz
